Lake Region Stories
Mission
The Kiwanis Club of the Lake Region serves the children and families of Keystone Heights and Melrose, Florida, through Key Club, K-Kids, Terrific Kids, scholarships, parades, and year-round community service. Our focus is simple: Children, Community, Club. This campaign extends that work in both directions — giving the people who built these two towns a guided way to preserve their life stories, and giving the young people we serve something of their community worth inheriting.
Why this matters
Keystone Heights and Melrose are small towns. Nearly everyone here knows someone whose story has never made it off the front porch — veterans, teachers who taught three generations of the same family, folks who ran a business on the same corner for forty years, church members who held this community together through hard seasons. Those stories go quiet one at a time, and once they're gone there's no getting them back. Our club spends most of its year investing in kids. This is our chance to make sure those kids grow up with something to inherit besides a name on a plaque.
